When beginning H.A.L.O. Rescue we searched for a warm hearted and good veterinarian to help us with our veterinary care. The search ended with the Florida Veterinary League Dr. Darrell Horn, and the wonderful staff have made dreams possible. Without their expert care and low cost services we could not have come as far as we have in saving lives.
They have given countless donated hours to our quest in saving lives at any expense. With the extreme high cost of emergency medical care one animal could have put us back thousands of dollars. The Florida Veterinary League sees a need in the community to help these animals and puts up with long, hard hours to help us.
We are forever grateful for all they have done for us and recommend them highly to anyone seeking veterinary care.

Alternative Herbal Medicine for Pets
Chinese herbal medicine is a safe effective and drug-free way for your pet to become well and stay healthy, naturally!
Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture are complimentary therapeutic modalities that are often used together in the treatment of a variety of medical conditions.
We have been very lucky to be not only next door to an herbal practice but to be sponsored by them. Dr. maria Hart has provided thousands of dollars of herbs and hours of acupuncture. She has not only given preventative care, but also treats sick animals that Western medicine had little hope for. We are forever grateful to her for helping us in our mission to save lives!
Over the past 5,000 years, Chinese herbology has evolved into an art form of its own. Ancient herbal information was gathered, compiled, formulated, tested, and handed down from generation to generation. Today, practitioners of Chinese medicine continue to prescribe herbal formulas because they are a powerful therapeutic method.
Within each formula exists a specific hierarchy of herbs;
1-Chief Herb- This herb has the greatest effect upon the principle problem and is the most important ingredient. It is the energetic and therapeutic focus of the entire formula.
2- Deputy Herb- These herbs support the Chief herb in the treatment of the principle problem. Deputy herbs usually address secondary signs and symptoms.
3- Assistant herb- the role of assistant herbs is to support, and reinforce the effects of the herbs. They also help moderate or eliminate any harsh properties of herbs within the formula.
4- Envoy Herbs- envoy herbs harmonize, guide, and focus the action of the entire formula on certain meridians or areas of the animal’s body.
Chinese herbal formulas combined this way offer specific synergistic actions and effects upon the animal’s body and mind.
Chinese herbal medicine can be used to expedite the healing process, and strengthen, support, or tone the animal’s body. These formulas have the capacity to address the underlying root cause of various medical conditions, whether acute or chronic. When prescribed and used correctly, Chinese herbal formulas rarely cause unwarranted side-effects.
