H.A.L.O. stands for Helping Animals Live and Overcome

H.A.L.O. No-Kill Rescue was founded in 2006 on the wings of a dream. A dream where all companion animals are safe from abuse and neglect. A dream where the residents of our community are provided with the programs and support needed to ensure their pet's safety, health and happiness. A dream of a no-kill future for all of Indian River County.

Thirteen years later, with full transparency and strong community support of our mission, H.A.L.O. has saved over 18,000 lives and reduced euthanasia in our county by 84%!

Our promise to you: WE will never stop advocating for companion animals, WE will never stop fighting for a no-kill future and for compassion for all living creatures, and WE will always strive to do better for them. It's just a better way!

How is "no-kill rescue" achieved when 7 MILLION animals enter shelters yearly?

By adopting our way out of the killing mentality and implementing cost-effective programs and services. By working with people, embracing lifesaving programs, and treating each life as precious.

30 MILLION people acquire a new companion animal every year. The only reason for shelter killing is a lack of faith in the community and the animals being rescued.

H.A.L.O. believes that together we will be the change we wish to see in the world.
No animal left behind!

COVID19 Update

I wanted to take a moment to update you on what H.A.L.O. is doing to help our staff, volunteers and community stay safe while serving the needs of the homeless pets in our area. Because of the constant changes surrounding COVID19 and recommendations by the CDC and county, we are taking this day by day.

For now, the Main Shelter in Sebastian remains open for adoptions and intakes and we will provide any help we can to the community during this trying time. We will close if mandated but as of this time, we are still operating as normal.

Our VB Adoption Center in the Indian River Mall is closed this week but we are taking appointments for adoptions at that location. Please email janh@halorescuefl.org or call (772) 778-8798 if you are interested in a meet and greet with one of the animals at the VB Adoption Center.

In an abundance of caution, H.A.L.O.'s Rescued Treasures Thriftique has been closed and we will not be accepting any donations at this location. In the event any of this information changes, we will notify you as soon as possible.

Everyone at H.A.L.O. is dedicated to the welfare of our rescues and helping the community through this difficult time. Thank you for your amazing support of our mission and the animals!
We have set up a Cornoavirus Relief Fund and are hoping you can continue your support of our
on the ground rescue efforts we are providing every day.
Sending you all love, trust and puppy breath from 8 trash can babies saved on Saturday!
